PHA provided traffic and civil engineering services and prepared the Environmental Assessment Statement (EAS) for the Basis Independent School in Brooklyn. The project involved the construction of an approximately 1,000-seat K-12 school on Columbia Street between Bay Street and Sigourney Street in Red Hook. The school required a variance from the NYC Board of Standards and Appeals to permit a school in an M1-1 zoning district. PHA’s civil design responsibilities included site grading, preparation of the builders pavement plan, preparation of the site connection proposal, and development of schematic vehicle circulation plans including drop-off areas and parking.
