Bogardus Plaza is located on the west side of West Broadway between Chambers and Reade Streets in Lower Manhattan. The plaza includes an entrance to the Chambers Street subway station on the 1, 2 and 3 lines, as well as approximately 16,000 square feet of pedestrian space and landscaped areas. The site was previously a traffic triangle, and was converted to a temporary plaza through a neighborhood initiative.

PHA provided civil engineering services to NYCDDC for the final design of the permanent plaza as a subconsultant to Mathews Nielsen Landscape Architecture. PHA’s responsibilities included design of grading, drainage, signal modifications, street lighting, and pavement design. The firm also coordinated with NYCDEP for approval of new catch basins and site connections, including utility services to a future kiosk.
