Construction Inspection

PHA provided construction inspection services for the installation of fire suppression systems at Grand Central Terminal as a subconsultant to Tectonic. Most of the construction work took place at night in order to avoid periods of peak rail service. The project involved replacement of the fire suppression system on both the upper and lower levels of the train shed between East 43rd and East 57th Streets. This included demolition of the existing outdated system and installation of new pipes, gate valves, fire standpipes, sprinklers, fire cabinets and fire alarm systems. PHA was responsible for inspection of the demolition and installation, including monitoring heat tracing cable installation, new electric fire pump and utilities for the 49th Street pump room, and other upgrades.
